With a career spanning more than three decades, David Harr has demonstrated expertise in operational management, strategic planning, and team leadership. At Notre Dame, he oversaw auxiliary and facility operations, integrating dining, hospitality, and retail services into a cohesive and high-performing system. David Harr’s work at Notre Dame reflects operational excellence, financial performance, and staff development.
In 1988, David Harr joined the University of Notre Dame as director of the Morris Inn, a 150-room AAA four-diamond hotel. Tasked with turning around a declining property, he implemented strategic operational and staffing changes, improved food and beverage offerings, and enhanced maintenance and guest services. His efforts resulted in elevated service standards, stronger brand awareness, and increased financial performance.
He was made associate vice president for auxiliary and facility operations. He revitalized St. Michael’s Laundry from a $600,000 loss to over $100,000 in annual net revenue, renegotiated bookstore contracts that increased revenue by $1.5 million, and restructured facility operations to reduce expenses by more than $1 million.
Later, Mr. Harr served as a peer group advisor with REF Indiana. He mentored over 125 business leaders and executives on implementing Net Promoter strategies, leveraging collective intelligence, and driving sustainable growth.
